7. Students’ impression on the program

Buses, beaches, temples, historic sites, an ancient culture and appealing cuisine; all of these combine to create the incredible India I lived in for my semester abroad. My name is Lacey Cooper and I just recently completed the life-changing experience of studying abroad in India for a semester through the IISAC’s Semester in India program. India is truly one of a kind with its’ endless festivals, bountiful beaches and diverse cultures. There is something for everyone here because the culture is so diverse, offering everything from traditional values and religious practices to modern art and dance. Studying in such an environment is not only educationally enriching, but every moment is a cultural experience and a memory to be cherished. This sort of an experience, in the past, has only offered for an outrageous price of $20,000 or more. However, IISAC provides these experiences, both educational and cultural, as well as an included 25 day tour of India for under $7,000. This sort of opportunity is only offered through the IISAC Semester in India program.

This incredibly affordable study abroad experience left me with more than I could have imagined. Not only do I have friendships and memories to last me a lifetime, I also have transformed in my educational and social skills. This program gave me the tools to learn how to adapt to a new environment comfortably and quickly. After spending a semester in India, I have discovered that certain characteristics have changed in me; such as patience and a communal mindset. I cannot express how many positive ways India has changed me and the numerous ways that IISAC provided opportunities to explore these changes. In fact, I have been so impressed with the program that I am now an intern for IISAC in Kerala, working as a peer counselor for students who wish to get involved in this program. Opportunities, such as these, are plentiful through the IISAC Semester in India program. Because of IISAC’s selfless spirit to help students gain as many cultural and academic experiences as possible, I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking for a life-changing study abroad experience. This program will exceed you expectations for a study abroad destination and provide you with experiences that will benefit you in your present and future aspirations. If you have questions on how to get involved or the type of experiences that you can gain from this program, please feel free to contact me through the IISAC administration.
